Litchfield girls basketball tops Housy, gets first win of Jessica Sprague era

KEVIN D. ROBERTS/Register Citizen
LITCHFIELD -- The Litchfield girls basketball team was able to hold off Housatonic 43-39 at home on Friday night for the first win of the season. The win was also the first for first-year Cowgirls head coach Jessica Sprague.
Litchfield's Jenny and Kaylee Cappello combined to make 8 of 12 foul shots in the fourth quarter of the game. The Cowgirls may not have hit a high percentage (17 of 31 for the game), but they made them when they counted.
Sprague said Litchfield had trouble winning close games in the past. Friday night was a different story.
Housatonic put together a solid effort in its own right and will win its first game soon.
