Nonnewaug moves on, Northwestern eliminated in Class M girls first round
The No. 4 Nonnewaug girls moved on with a 60-40 Class M first round win over No. 29 Seymour in Woodbury on Monday night. Caitlin Drakeley and Katie Burke each had 21 points in the victory. Drakeley was especially solid with 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals.
"She had a great night," Chiefs head coach John Somero said.

No. 16 Northwestern's season came to an end after a 51-31 home loss to a tough No. 17 Ledyard squad. The Highlanders finish the season with a record of 13-8. To read Peter Wallace's story about the game, click here.
CIAC girls basketball state tournament action continues tomorrow with two Class S first round games. Wallace will be covering the No. 18 Shepaug at No. 15 Wolcott Tech game. Correspondent Russ Coward will be covering the No. 28 Goodwin Tech at No. 5 Wamogo game. Both games start at 7 p.m.
