Torrington, Holy Cross girls play for NVL tournament title tonight

The Holy Cross and Torrington girls basketball teams meet for the third time this season tonight at 7 at Kennedy High School in Waterbury.
This time, the Naugatuck Valley League tournament title is on the line. The Lady Raiders are the second-ranked team in the tournament while the Crusaders No. 1.
Torrington has lost to Holy Cross in the previous two games this season. In the first meeting on Dec. 13, the Crusaders raced out to a 19-2 lead after one quarter on the way to a 65-46 victory over the Raiders. In the second matchup, Torrington jumped out to an early lead and was ahead 31-26 at the half, but Briana Bradford (32 points, 6 3-pointers) helped lead Holy Cross to a 67-62 win.
In the NVL semifinals, Torrington narrowly escaped upset-minded Naugatuck 42-41 while Holy Cross pounded Ansonia 72-50.
The Raiders enter tonight's game with a 19-3 overall record (19-2 NVL). The Crusaders are 21-1 (21-0 NVL).
