Nonnewaug girls down Wamogo on Caitlin Drakeley's buzzer-beating 3-pointer

KEVIN D. ROBERTS/Register Citizen
It was another wild ending between the Nonnewaug and Wamogo girls basketball teams. This time, Caitlin Drakeley's buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave the Chiefs a 42-39 victory over the Warrirors in Woodbury. Megan Layman tied the game for Wamogo at 39 with less than 10 seconds left, but Drakeley dribbled her way to the top of key and a put up a three-point shot that hit nothing but net.
In the first meeting between the teams in December in Litchfield, Jessica Binkowski's two free throws gave Wamogo a 44-42 win over Nonnewaug, who was undefeated at the time.
