The Wamogo boys basketball team (7-9 overall, 6-8 Berkshire League) enters tonight's Berkshire League contest against Gilbert (13-4, 12-3) one win away from a Class S state tournament berth. The Warriors started the season 2-8, but have won five of their last six games. Wamogo knocked off Housatonic 61-60 last night at home.
The game is also big for Gilbert, which trails Northwestern (13-3, 12-2) by one game in the loss column for first place in the BL.
In the first meeting between Gilbert and Wamogo on Jan. 6, the Yellowjackets took a 70-60 win in Winsted. Robert Skinner and Austin Brochu each had 22 points for Gilbert in the win. Spencer Albano led Wamogo with 20 points in the loss while Nick Nemergut added 18.
The Yellowjackets are coming off a hard-fought 72-65 home win over Housatonic last Friday. Gilbert has won four straight games since a 54-52 loss at Lewis Mills on Jan. 27.
